Personal Tributes

I met Tony around 1980 soon after myself and the family moved to Chelmsford. Tony, David Drewett and myself had all ventured into local preaching in the Methodist Church. Tony used his gift as a teacher, he was professional in all he did. After he was accredited Tony was soon a welcome visitor everywhere to take services with a very singular unusual style involving beginning and end and three life stories in between. It was quite captivating. I realized all the more when I became the Local Preacher’s Secretary and started doing a plan for all the Sunday Services in all the churches of the area and everyone wanted him and I was not surprised.

Our friendship grew over the years and he shared with me his problems and difficulties in life which were very difficult for him at times. The speaking quality never varied in its high quality. And then he met Susan and they married. Somehow, amazingly, his speaking ability became even greater as he had further deepening experiences in his Christian life. A lovely dear man and a very dear friend. Many, many happy memories. Bless you, thank you. Look forward to seeing you again.

Mike and Val Shelbourne with our love.

My memories of Uncle Tony are of a wonderful gentleman, who was a fantastic addition to our lives and the lives of all of his family. As a boy I was fortunate enough to spend some quality time with my uncle, when I remember laughing until we cried at his tremendous sense of humor. I still hold memories of Uncle Tony very close to my heart and am most grateful for the privilege of having known this fantastic man.

Always open minded and searching for answers, an intellectual powerhouse that both encouraged greatness and inspired it.
May you find all answers on your journey and give a hug to our Gran and Granpy.

Goodbye my adored brother.
I have so many precious memories of you coming home to Cornwall and spending time with me, your little sister. You always were my hero, my friend, my confidante. I so missed and still miss those precious times and the history both of us shared.

Pastor Alan and Betty Bliss – The Wickford Christian Centre

During the time that you were with us at the Church we remember you both, your love for each other and Tony as a true Christian gentleman who, with his great teaching skills, had a wonderful way of sharing from the bible. He was truly a man of the Word, a man of the Spirit and a man of experience, held in high regard by many.
